SPECTRUM NEWS VIDEO: The 25th running of the Syracuse Festival of Races is this weekend, but it could be its last. The race director and founder is stepping down after all these years.

Dave Oja is well known on the local racing stage. Not only does he coordinate the festival of races, but served as director of the Corporate Challenge for 25 years as well.

This was his baby though -- Oja designed the race course, brought in the runners, even marked up the route with a tangent line that guides runners to their fastest time possible.

He's poured his heart and soul into this job, and says he couldn't be more rewarding.

This Sunday will mark the 25th edition of the Syracuse Festival of Races which includes a men's and women's 5K along with a 3K fun and fitness run.

There is still time to register for one of Sunday's events.

Right now, there's no word on whether or not the Festival of Races will continue after this year.  It takes a lot of work and dedication, so it would take somebody to step up and take on the role that Dave has served for so many years.
