HAYS COUNTY, Texas — A fight between two Hays County students turned into a viral "fight challenge" between two schools.

Videos posted on Twitter show groups of teenage boys fighting in the halls of both Hays and Lehman high schools.

School officials conducted what they call a "hold in place" which confined students in their classrooms while district officers could identify the students involved in the fights.

The district says the series of fights all started with two young men on Tuesday.

"Yesterday [Tuesday], there was a fight between two male students, what appears to be over a girlfriend. And some of the tension from that yesterday [Tuesday], their friends got upset with each other and that spilled over into today [Wednesday]," said Tim Savoy, district spokesperson.

These videos have since been removed from Twitter. The students involved will face consequences.
