Davis, 26, was last seen in north Charlotte on June 29. 2018. A Facebook page was set up to track any updates in his disappearance.

Just before 8 a.m. Friday, an update was posted by Sam's mother, saying that a body, possibly her son's, was found.

It reads in part, “Yesterday he was found and not in the way we were all hoping and praying for. But for the first time in eight months, I now know where he is. He isn't in danger and he isn't sad. The identification still has to be made official but we are more than certain it is Sam. Thank you #samsarmy for walking this difficult road with me. I love you, Sam."
