FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- Fort Bragg says about 500 of its soldiers have deployed to parts of Arizona and California in support of the border security mission.

  • 500 Fort Bragg soldiers have been deployed to the Southern border.
  • This comes as President Donald Trump declares a national emergency.
  • They will assist U.S. Customs and Border Protection and the Department of Homeland Security.

They say the soldiers will provide logistical, military police, medical, and public affairs support to Customs and Border Patrol.

Military officials say the soldiers' goals are to help ensure U.S. Customs and Border Protection personnel are able to execute their federal functions, increase the effectiveness of their operations, and support the Department of Homeland Security.
