ORLANDO, Fla. — Fiat Chrysler is recalling thousands of new Dodge pickup trucks because of an issue that could cause power-steering loss.

  • Fastener not secured properly on some 2019 Dodge Rams
  • If the fastener becomes too loose, it increases the risk of accidents

The recall affects over 159,000 2019 Dodge Ram pickup trucks sold in the United States. A small number of vehicles in Canada and Mexico are also affected.

Fiat Chrysler says the vehicles may have a battery ground-circuit fasterner that was not secure properly.

If the fastener becomes loose enough to create an open circuit, it could lead to steering issues that would increase the risk of a crash. So far, however, there have been no accidents, according to the company.

Customers can go to the Dodge recall page to see if their vehicle was affected. They can also call Fiat Chrysler at 1-800-853-1403.
