Ringo is an 18-month-old chocolate Labrador retriever and he loves to play fetch, a lot.
Ringo’s dad, Rick Gary, was more than happy to give his arm a rest and try out the “Nerf Dog Tennis Ball Blaster.” This human and dog toy is designed to launch a tennis ball 50 feet with ease. There are many other ball launching toys out there but the Nerf Dog Tennis Ball Blaster has a sturdy design, it is ease to load and will not disappoint your athletic dog starting at around $25.
The manufacturer recommends using a “Nerf” brand ball. However we also tried a standard tennis ball as well as a hard rubber ball about the same size as a tennis ball that fit into the launch chamber. Both worked just fine. It is also important to remember damage and chewed-up balls should be thrown away so your dog doesn’t swallow pieces of rubber.
When pulling back the cocking handle, it is important to use one hand to hold the toy firmly and using your stronger hand, pull back with some force to lock it in place. When it’s time to pull the trigger, point the barrel at 45 degrees and pull. Super easy for you, super fun for your dog!
Another cool thing about the “Nerf Dog Tennis Ball Blaster” is you can use regular tennis balls if your dog chews up the one that comes with the package.
