ORLANDO, Fla. — Orlando police are asking for the community’s help as they continue to investigate a July shooting in downtown that left numerous people injured.

Police initially reported seven people were hurt in the shooting but updated the total to nine Thursday. The shooting resulted from an ongoing dispute between gang members, according to police.

“We’ve narrowed the suspect pool down to a small group of gang-affiliated individuals we have identified,” Chief Eric Smith said at a press conference. “But once again, we need the public’s help to piece these things together.”

On Thursday, the department released redacted bodycam video, surveillance video showing persons of interest, and video of the gun used in the shooting. Police recovered the gun in Daytona Beach in connection to a separate crime, according to Smith.

Police say their investigation took them to Hernando and Volusia counties as well. Authorities say they believe there are at least 10 people with information on the shooting that would benefit the investigation who have have not been forthcoming with police.

People like commissioners are concerned about what it means for the downtown area.

“You cannot have good restaurants and you cannot have a good downtown if people feel unsafe to go downtown. That is unacceptable," said Orlando District 4 Commissioner Patty Sheehan. 

The department reopened its online evidence portal, asking community members to upload any pictures and videos from that night.
