ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — For the past 10 months, Disney World has been celebrating its 50th anniversary with new fireworks shows, new attractions and a collection of golden character statues across its theme parks.

The celebration, which began on Oct. 1, 2021, has included the the opening of new attractions such as Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure and Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind at EPCOT, as well as the debut of new nighttime fireworks shows such as Disney Enchantment at Magic Kingdom and Harmonious at EPCOT.

Cinderella Castle at Magic Kingdom was transformed for the celebration, receiving a pink and gold color scheme along with a 50th anniversary medallion. Disney also added special lighting effects and projects to the park icons, transforming spaceship Earth at EPCOT, the Hollywood Tower Hotel at Disney's Hollywood Studios, and the Tree of Life at Disney's Animal Kingdom into Beacons of Magic at night.

But now that Disney World is more than halfway through its 18-month celebration, the resort has revealed when it will all come to an end.

The 50th anniversary celebration will end on March 31, 2023. The date is now displayed on the official Disney World website.

“The magic is calling everyone to our celebration — now through March 31, 2023!” the website update reads.

Disney hasn’t said which 50th anniversary additions will be removed once the celebration is over. Dozens of gold character statues were installed at all Disney World theme parks for the celebration, but it’s unclear if they will remain.

And then there’s the question of TRON Lightcycle Run, which is currently under construction at Magic Kingdom. The attraction, first announced in 2017, was originally set to debut in time for the 50th anniversary celebration. So far, Disney has not yet announced an opening date for the attraction.
