COCOA, Fla. — The search continued Wednesday for the people accused of pulling up to a Cocoa business and firing dozens rounds at a juvenile male, a woman and a 1-year-old child.

While around 50 shots were fired during the confrontation, the only injury reported by the Brevard County Sheriff's Office was the child — who was stuck once. Her injuries are not believed to be life threatening, Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey said Tuesday from the scene.

The baby was taken to Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children in Orlando, where she was being treated for her injuries.

The child was initially identified as a 2-year-old girl, but officials updated her age as a 1-year-old on Wednesday.

Ivey said the juvenile and woman were pushing a stroller out of a store near the intersection of Burnett Road and Catalina Drive when the shooting started at about 1:26 p.m.

He said a black Mercedes was seen pulling up in front of the store, and after several individuals got out, the shooting started.

"Roughly 50 rounds were fired between three subjects that were shooting toward the male, female and baby," Ivey said. "(The) baby was struck one time around (the) pelvic area."

Ivey said the three individuals exchanged gunfire with the juvenile who came out of the store with the woman and baby.

"Right now, we have the male subject who came out of the store that was one of the shooters, we have him in our custody," Ivey said Tuesday. "We are looking for the other three subjects."

He said the shooting seems to have stemmed from an ongoing feud.

The Sheriff's Office did not release any new information Wednesday about the custody status of the juvenile, of if he was facing any charges in connection with the shooting.

Ivey said the woman left the baby at the scene and fled, but went back to retrieve her after the shooting stopped.

Ivey said the callousness and brazenness of the shooters was shocking.

"As I said, there was approximately 50 rounds fired in broad open daylight between four subjects who had a baby in between them," he said. "All four of them are shooting back and forth at each other — not only putting the baby at risk, but others that are in the area around.

"The parking lot was packed at the time, and these individuals are acting like clowns shooting at each other over what? Who knows what the situation is."

"But what we do know is, thankfully, the baby is in stable condition," Ivey added. "Unbelievable to me that individuals would be out here shooting at each other in the first place. But then, to put a baby in the middle of all of that is just unbelievable."
