Digital reporter Pete Reinwald joined the Spectrum News 13 team in September 2020.

As a journalist and storyteller, he likes to write about issues that affect the most vulnerable.

Pete draws his inspiration from working with colleagues who also see journalism as a public service, who care deeply about what they do, and above all, who share a love for producing stories that spark thought, reflection, reaction, engagement and, when necessary, change.

He has worked as a reporter or editor at news organizations throughout Florida and in the Midwest, including the Tampa Bay Times, the Detroit Free Press, Dow Jones Newswires, and the Chicago Tribune.

Pete grew up in Pasco County, north of St. Petersburg, earning a bachelor’s degree in geography from the University of South Florida and a master’s degree in Public Services Management from DePaul University.

He is happily married to his wife, Diane, who is also a journalist. They have three adult children.

Pete enjoys fitness, hiking, traveling, playing guitar, watching the NBA, and walking around Orlando’s Lake Eola. He also enjoys reading, particularly novels that explore the plight of the downtrodden or disadvantaged.

Pete especially loves animals. He has been known to express his love for a dog at first sight, and then start a playful wrestling match. Currently, he has yet to be declared winner.
