Crean has been a volunteer here for nearly a decade.

“It’s a wonderful opportunity to share the life and works of sculptor Albin Polasek. We get visitors from all over the world, literally,” Crean said.

They get through it all with a smile. For Crean, this is more than giving back, it is his passion. He loves art and shares that same love with his wife, Sue.

Sue Crean also volunteers at the museum, educating people on the life of Polasek.

Marty shares in that joy by sharing the treasured history.

“One of the fun things that happens that keeps me going (is) people get interested in the story, they ask great questions, I encourage great questions which leads to longer than normal tours sometimes,” Marty Crean said.

Jennifer Deery is the museum’s executive director. She says volunteers keep the museum running and that Crean and his wife are both treasures.

“He’s just really bought into the mission and shares that passion with everybody that he meets,” Deery said.

Crean says he will continue selflessly volunteering his time to educate others with rich heartwarming stories.

“I just find volunteering very satisfying, very rewarding,” he said.
