Happy Friday! Grab your jacket before heading out the door — it’s chilly! But get ready for a gorgeous end to the week. Today will warm up a bit this afternoon, with highs reaching the upper 70s. Winds will be light early on but will increase out of the south between 10 and 15 mph. Gusts could reach up to 25 mph during the afternoon.
Fire danger remains elevated to critical across most of the Lone Star State. Dry air and extremely dry vegetation remain, and any spark or flame can still produce dangerous wildfires.
Low-level moisture will slowly return to most of Texas as we head into the weekend. This will result in warmer overnight temperatures and increased cloud cover.
But it will take until Saturday for that southerly return flow to get going. Friday promises to start cool with warmer temperatures by the afternoon.
Sunday will see a weak front push into North Texas before stalling. That boundary will have little impact on temperatures, but it will provide a focal mechanism for a few showers and an isolated thunderstorm Sunday evening, primarily east of the I-35 corridor.
