The Syracuse Common Council has approved a new housing strategy.

This is the latest step in an effort to tackle serious problems with the city's housing supply. A joint study released by the city and a planning firm last year points to issues with neglect and affordability.

The mayor's office says the new strategy includes a push to stabilize neighborhoods in distress and invest more in what it calls "middle neighborhoods."
