For first-year head coach Kayla Treanor, making it to this point has been thrilling.

"We're so excited," Treanor said. "It's a really big deal to be playing in the Elite 8. Just really proud of the girls. They were just so impressive this weekend. We know it was a tough game on Friday, but they bounced back on Sunday and played a great lacrosse game, so we're fired up to play Northwestern Thursday night."

Megan Carney said the team came out Friday different than Sunday.

"I think we knew in the back of our heads that we were going to win, but it got close and we had to pull out a win," Carney said. "Sunday we were like, they're going to come out hot, it's going to be a good game. We know they're dying to win, so we came out with a lot of energy. So we're feeling good right now."

SU and Northwestern will faceoff at 5 p.m. Thursday.

The winner advances to the Final Four in Maryland next weekend.
