Another community meeting was held Monday night to talk about the future of Interstate-81 and a group of people are not happy about some of the changes.

This one took place in Cicero, and as the community came into the meeting, the first thing they saw was the redesign of the I-81, 481 interchange.

Right now, that interchange bottlenecks during rush hour. People at the meeting say they are worried that this redesign will only make the situation worse. It's a similar concern for people who live in DeWitt, since more traffic would be routed there.

One resident says the community grid will create traffic problems and delays all over the place, and he's hoping for the improved viaduct option to replace the current elevated portion of I-81 through Syracuse.

“People love this Central New York area just because of the traffic. They don’t have to wait around and monkey around and stuff. The convenience compared to going to other states. But if they mess the roadways up and people, amongst other things, it could make people scratch their heads and not want to stay in the area even,” said Steven Burdick, Cicero resident.

If you're interested in learning more about the project or want to share your thoughts, another neighborhood meeting will be held in Camilus. That will take place on Thursday, September 23 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
