Soldiers at Fort Drum playing it safe this holiday when it comes to the coronavirus. Some soldiers were treated to a special Thanksgiving dinner yesterday, but others headed home.

Brigadier General Brett Funck is asking soldiers to follow many of the same guidelines as New York State civilians -- limiting travel, staying away from large gatherings, and wearing a mask at all times.

He’s also asking soldiers and the North Country community to be thankful for the men and women currently deployed overseas.

“Let’s also keep all our soldiers that we have in the 10th Mountain Division in our thoughts and prayers that are deployed. We still have quite a few folks out there in harm’s way doing what our country has asked of us. We also have to think about their families, as well," said General Funck.

General Funck says while social distance is important, it’s also critical to keep in contact with others, especially those families with a loved one overseas, to avoid a feeling of isolation in your own space.
