When the nation calls, Fort Drum answers. The troops here, unlike many other places, are able to deploy overseas on a moment's notice.

What You Need To Know

  • Fort Drum was recognized as a winner of the 2020 Commander in Chief Annual Award for Installation Excellence

  • The award was presented to Fort Drum based on a number of criteria, including mission support, energy efficiency, counseling programs and more

  • Fort Drum also won a number of awards in 2019, which helped it get this honor

However, most of the nation knows this.

But now, they'll also know what the in stallion does here in the North Country. Fort Drum was named a 2020 Commander in Chief Award recipient for Installation Excellence.

"This award was presented because it suggests we did more with less. The resources provided to us by DOD and DA have helped these folks, our team, achieve awesome results," Fort Drum and 10th Mountain Division Commanding General MG Brian Mennes said.

While the award does include mission support, leadership, training and unit morale, it's also about the work Fort Drum has done within its home community.

Fort Drum was lauded for its energy efficiency and sustainability programs, its security and safety measure, including keeping roads clean during our treacherous winters.

Also, it has several programs that help welcome new families and those that offer counseling, and much more.

"It just touches my heart what they pour into everything they do to help make Fort Drum a great place to live," Major General Mennes added.

This award also considers past awards and just last year, Fort Drum won the Army Partnership Award, the Secretary of the Army Environmental Award and was named a Great American Defense Community.
