Within the next few months, Watertown's downtown will be getting some major work done.

"We'll see that construction starting to take place in downtown Watertown. And really start seeing the results of that 10 million dollar funding. But even more existing is you see that people who have been existing in downtown already starting to take pride in the city," said Watertown Chamber of Commerce President Kylie Peck.

The projects were funded through the State's Downtown Revitalization Initiative.  The goal is to improve upstate economies by building stronger downtown communities.

"Having the incentive alone financially from the state, shows that there's a investment taking place in the North Country. Which alone is a really fantastic thing for all of us," Peck says.

The Paddock arcade is one of the 14 projects awarded a piece of the $10 million. Like some of the other projects, contracts were settled and construction is expected to begin shortly.

“They're rehabbing some of the floors of the Lincoln building,” said Peck. “And it's really exciting because they're going to be doing kind of an incubator space."

Once 2020 rolls in, downtown Watertown could look like a whole new city with all the businesses coming to town.
