The words "it can't be true" continue to echo throughout the Herkimer community after Friday's deadly fire.

Family, friends, and neighbors came together on Saturday to offer support at a candle light vigil.

"I hope everybody remembers why were here. It's for those three little boys, helping their parents cope with their loss, and trying to remember who they were and the lives they didn't get to have because they were just taken so soon," said Jessica LaFountain, family friend.

Three boys died in a fire on East Steele Street.

Mikey, Richie, and Jackson were all under the age of 8.

"Richie was the sweetest little thing. He had the most beautiful eyes eyelashes that any girl would kill for," said LaFountain. "Mikey was this little ball of energy and he just loved to laugh and make jokes, and we called him MJ, and he was just so cute, they both were."

Family members say 1-year-old Jackson was just learning to walk.

"He was the cutest little baby its just sad to see someone so young not be able to have a life," said LaFountain.

Investigators say their parents tried to save the kids, but the flames were too much.

Now, the charred home are highlighted by teddy bears, candles to show love to the family.

"The boys are going to be missed and it's one of the hardest things anyone ever had to deal with, but this community is really making it easier on everybody," said LaFountain.

The Salvation Army also attended the vigil and provided drinks and emergency services to the family.

There has also been an obituary made since then.
