Toys for Tots is making sure every child can have a happy holiday by giving away thousands of gifts.

"It means a lot because a lot of people are struggling and I'm one of those people, so it definitely takes a little bit of the burden off of buying all the gifts that it requires," said Conklin resident Christina Baran.

"You can't provide what you would really like to give them,” said Binghamton resident Sherline Marshall. “It means a whole lot actually, because who else is doing that?"

For Broome County, it's an ongoing tradition. The non-profit collects donations of toys and cash from community members and local businesses.

"It really feels good to help families right here locally where we live,” said Binghamton Police Officer Christopher Marshall. “You know, you see them coming through the doors to collect the toys and the happiness."

Parents are even happier to give the gifts away.

"I’m super excited and they'll enjoy them a lot. I haven't even had a chance to look through the bag yet but I'm sure there's some really great things in here," said Baran.

"Oh yeah, they're going to be thrilled,” said Marshall. “I mean what kid wouldn't be happy? They get some nice stuff.”

More than 1,200 bags get packed with toys and picked up by families to take home for the holiday season, leading to a very merry holiday season.

"We're giving away a little bit of everything,” said Marshall. “Big item this year with the girls is the L.O.L. dolls, remote control cars, the dolls, board games, and a whole variety. It's so nice being around everybody especially for something like this."

Donations are being accepted until December 19.
