Winter's first snowstorm has hit the Southern Tier, with snow falling in bunches overnight and into Friday morning.

Thursday night, there were plenty of accidents across the area as the snow picked up, making for a tough evening commute. At one point, exits 56-58 were closed on Interstate 86. Many people ended up getting stuck.

For many in the Southern Tier, this early taste of winter is nothing new.  Last winter, Binghamton received more than 130 inches of snow.
