An arrest has been made in connection with animal abuse case out of Jefferson County.

The sheriff's office is now saying the owner lied about what happened.

Earlier this month, deputies began investigating the case of a dog and 11 puppies abandoned in a pillowcase along Route 11 in LeRay. One puppy died.

The dogs have since been in foster care.

The owner, 26-year-old Krista Loudermilk, is accused of fabricating the story, so the dogs would be accepted by the SPCA.

Deputies say the one puppy died from natural causes.

Loudermilk is charged with falsely reporting an incident.
