The Great New York State Fair is just 12 days away, and organizers and vendors are working hard to prepare everything in time.

The rides have started going up, including two roller coasters that will be out on the midway this year.

Crews are also buttoning up work on the brand new Expo Center, which will include free ice skating and hockey tournaments inside. It's a project that's been in the works for close to a year and organizers are excited about all that it will bring to the fairgrounds.

"There's not a person alive that can say it's a small building,” said Acting State Fair Director Troy Waffner. “I mean when you think about it its 440 feet long and 250 feet wide.  Most of its expo space and when you go in there there's a huge ice rink in there and still plenty of space. It's great for the fair and it's going to be fantastic for the non-fair in terms of making it a better year round facility."

Spectrum News will be at the fair starting August 22nd located outside the Science and Industries building.
