$20,000 was raised to fight heart disease in Central New York.

More than 100 people joined 'Handbags Helping Hearts' Wednesday night in Fayetteville. Donated designer purses stuffed with goodies were auctioned off.

All of the money will go toward heart disease research, as part of the 'Go Red for Women' campaign.

"It could be a mother, an aunt, a daughter, and really women try to work hard to, again, prevent that, but also trying to do things so that it doesn't happen to other women," said Chairwoman of Go Red for Women Campaign Evelyn Ingram.

The American Heart Association says heart disease kills one woman almost every minute, but those deaths are 80 percent preventable with a healthy lifestyle.
