Jazz Fest may be taking a year off, but jazz music will still be filling the streets of Syracuse this summer.

Onondaga County Executive Joanie Mahoney has requested $10,000 to support a "Jazz in the City" event.

The county legislature will make the final decision.

Mahoney says it is an opportunity to support local talent.

"All of the little things that we do, the sum total gives us this reputation as a great place to live, work, play, raise a family," she said.

Jazz in the City will feature local jazz artists and performers along with students from Syracuse City Schools.
