The case against the Utica man accused of killing his grandmother and another woman is on hold.
Naythen Aubain, 29, was scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday morning, but it was postponed pending the results of a mental health exam.
Aubain was arraigned on two counts of first-degree murder on Tuesday.
Prosecutors said he killed 90-year-old Katherine Aubain and 87-year-old Jane Wentka.
According to court documents, Aubain admitted to investigators that he stabbed both victims in the neck.
He also allegedly told police where to find their bodies.
While he was being brought in for arraignment, Aubain allegedly stated he stated he, "chopped them up in the name of Jesus Christ."
Aubain's attorney requested a medical exam to determine if his client is capable of understanding the charges against him.
He is expected back in court Monday morning, but the district attorney's office says they can't move forward until a doctor finds him competent.
