A Corning man who pleaded guilty to killing his wife will spend the rest of his life behind bars. A judge handed down a life sentence without parole to Lloyd Neurauter on Tuesday.

His first-degree murder charge comes after he killed his ex-wife Michele last year, with help from his daughter Karrie.

"It helps Michele's family move forward so I think all and all it's a positive result for the family and for the community," said Brooks Baker, the Steuben County district attorney.

Michele's mother, Jeannie Laundy, spoke about the "excruciating" pain of losing her daughter. She also told the judge that Lloyd Neurauter constantly tortured her daughter both verbally and physically.

"[Karrie] really is a good person. She was just manipulated and controlled and she sees it," Laundy said.

He did address Michele's family, apologizing for what he did, and says he understands the consequences of his actions.

Neurauter also spoke about his three daughters, saying that they have lost both parents and a sister.

"I can tell you unequivocally that he loves his children, and I can also tell you that he is at peace with what happened today," said Christopher Tunney, Lloyd's defense attorney.

He also asked the judge to show mercy during his daughter's sentencing, which is scheduled for December 10.
