ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The United Way of Greater Rochester and the Finger Lakes began its 104th annual campaign on Wednesday. This year also marks its first-ever six-county campaign.

For 2022, all new and increased donations to the organization's community impact fund will be matched dollar-for-dollar, up to $500,000, by Canandaigua National Bank & Trust.

However, the pandemic is not making this effort any easier.

"[The] very same COVID situation that we are all experiencing right now that drives an enhanced need," said Frank Hamlin, 2022 campaign chair. "And so it is now, probably more than ever before, that we each and every one of us need to focus on making sure that our community is appropriately provisioned and given every opportunity possible."

The United Way raised more than $32 million during its annual campaign last year.
