ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Not long after its big opening, Rochester's Skate Park is closed.

Deemed by the city as a non-essential location where people gather, Spectrum News found the park shut down and taped off on the first day of Rochester's Orange Zone.

Spectrum News spotted city work crews dropping off barricades.

Treyvon Kendrick says he passed the location often as it was being built.

He found Wednesday's scene disappointing.

“Seeing this it doesn’t feel good, cause I know people are not going to come back until this is removed. But like every other day seeing people active here, it was inspirational a little bit cause somebody was doing something. It’s not all negative you know," said Kendrick.

Kendrick said he started skating this summer and will keep skating along the river trail.
