IRONDEQUOIT, N.Y. — The Bishop Kearney girls’ soccer roster includes several players from the Kings three-time defending sectional champion basketball team.

"We compare the different sports. You would think, basketball and soccer, how do those kinda go together but we can talk about backdoor, we can talk about playing in and out and that's all stuff you do on the court,” coach Kerri Steve said.

A standout forward on the court, Taylor Norris also enjoying her time with the soccer team.

"I would say the most important thing would probably be having fun because, if you're playing soccer or any sport, having fun is the most important thing so, winning is just a bonus," Norris said.

Despite her success with the basketball and softball teams, soccer is Emily Tytler's first sport.

"I think that you kinda get to know the girls on a different level in different sports, and then you get to know them through soccer too. So you know how they play, where they're gonna be, when to pass them the ball," Tytler said. "It just helps to strengthen our teamwork."

Among the section's leading goal scorers is junior Kaia Goode. The Kings starting point guard enjoys the benefits of playing another sport.

"It helps with my footwork, it helps with communication, I move a lot, running is key for both sports,” Goode said.

The chemistry between players is also paying off on the pitch.

"It never ceases to amaze each and every one of us how much, if we come together and work hard, that we can have success," said Goode.

As one of the highest scoring teams in Section Five, the Kings look to ride that momentum into sectionals.
