Greece Athena travels to Webster Thomas for Week Three of our Friday Night Matchup.

The Titans, at 2-0, already have surpassed last year's win total. The success comes despite the team being down to their third string quarterback. Starter Kelsey Carter suffered a torn ACL in off-season camp, then backup Josh Jaworowicz broke his collarbone in the season opener.

Thomas is now starting senior Jake Canfield, who normally starts as a wide receiver and defensive back.

"He's a baseball kid, so he has a strong arm. He's a tremendous athlete so we're trying to play to his strengths. He can definitely stretch the field," said Scott Deuschle, Thomas’ head coach Scott.

Athena is also battling some injuries of their own. Defensive tackle Nick Maldonado is out this year, after facing a setback on a prior shoulder surgery. His twin brother Andres also went down with a torn LCL during the pre-season. He won't be cleared until Week Four.

Expect this game to be low scoring, with both Athena and Thomas bolstering strong defenses.

Thomas held Churchville Chili to one score during their season opener and while 1-1 Athena boasts a strong defensive line.

"If you can play defense, you can stay in games and that's what we try to do against the good opponents. If we can hang around and make enough plays at the end to have a shot at winning it," said Athena head coach Rob Cerone.
