Jonathan Hunter joined the Spectrum News Rochester team in November of 2019 as a Baltimore native. Prior to this, Jonathan was a reporter and fill-in anchor for WDVM where he anchored one of the stations most-watched broadcasts ever. A passion for telling stories that hit close to him, Jonathan is dedicated to learning the ins-and-outs of the communities for which he reports.

Throughout Jonathan’s time reporting, one story he recalls as his most meaningful is his interview of one of Muhamad Ali’s daughters and grandsons for a story about Parkinson’s disease. They drove all the way from Philadelphia to Maryland for the interview. This interview was able to bring awareness to the disease and the efforts to find a cure. For Jonathan, the whole experience is one he’ll never forget. It’s not every day you get to interview the descendants of an American icon.

When Jonathan isn’t working on his next story, you can find him spending time with his girlfriend and their son. Aside from that, Jonathan frequents the YMCA for a game of basketball.

An African American history buff, Jonathan loves exploring the historic city that’s filled with stories and remembrances of Frederick Douglass.
