The Lewiston police chief tells Spectrum News there have been 10 to 15 reports of people being mailed racist flyers, calling people to join a white supremacist gathering at the Peach Festival this weekend.
Based on the postmark, the flyers may have been sent from the Rochester area, he said.
Law enforcement could not confirm how many individuals are involved in the circulation of the fliers.
He said he's consulted with the district attorney and nothing criminal can be investigated in the matter as it falls under free speech.
Peach Fest organizers said they are aware of the issue.
The police chief said there is no reason to be concerned as law enforcement has secured this weekend's event.
