ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Attorneys for Rochester Mayor Lovely Warren and two others appeared for a motion hearing before a Cayuga County judge on Monday.

The mayor and the two co-defendants are each charged with violating election law during her re-election campaign in 2017.

During Monday's hearing, the judge denied most of the motions by the defense to toss the charges against their clients.

Warren, along with Albert Jones and Rosalind Brooks-Harris are accused of coordinating to circumvent campaign contribution limits by funneling donations through a political action committee.

Defense attorneys claim the charges were politically motivated and argue that a lawyer's testimony violated the attorney-client privileges of the defendants. The defense also claims fallout from the Daniel Prude case influenced the grand jury.

Warren's attorney, Joseph Damelio, has previously stated his client did not intend to violate the law did not knowingly violate the law.

The judge will consider two arguments by defense and return his decision in three weeks.
