The Monroe County District Attorney confirms that it looking into an inquiry at the Monroe County Democratic Committee.

According to the committee, that inquiry started on October 4 after the new party chair Zach King was presented with information related to past decisions made prior to the transition of power in the MCDC.

A spokesperson for the committee says that on November 20, an inquiry, in the form of a subpoena, was presented to the committee by the DA's office, and that the committee cooperated with the subpoena.

The spokesperson did not elaborate on what that subpoena was for.

Stephen DeVay of the Monroe County Democratic Committee issued a statement on Tuesday:

"On October 4th, Chair King and the new Monroe County Democratic Committee (MCDC) Leadership started their transition to MCDC. As a part of this, Chair King was presented with information related to past decisions and agreements made before October 3. This information required a conversation with the State Board of Elections and Election Law counsel. Upon consultation with them, and under the advice of Legal Counsel, it was advised that MCDC make the information in question available to interested government agencies.

On November 20, an inquiry, in the form of a subpoena, was presented to MCDC by the Monroe County District Attorney's Office, and MCDC complied with this request."

Spectrum News reached out to the City of Rochester and Brittaney Wells, who was the chair of the Democratic Committee before assuming the role of the city's chief of staff and was told neither the city or Wells would provide a comment.

This is a developing story that will be updated as more information becomes available.
