In the wake of the release of the Mueller Report on President Donald Trump's 2016 campaign and Russia's actions during the election, New York lawmakers are making their thoughts known on social media.

Some of the redactions in Special Counsel Robert Mueller's report, released Thursday on the Department of Justice website, didn't sit well with New York Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, a 2020 Democratic presidential candidate.

She later tweeted a link to a petition that demands Barr release the full, unredacted report.

Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D - NY) said Attorney General William Barr's handling of the report "has been regrettably partisan," noting the four-page summary Barr released last month.

"We believe the only way to begin restoring public trust in the handling of the Special Counsel’s investigation is for Mueller himself to provide public testimony in the House & Senate ASAP," Schumer tweeted.

In the minutes and hours following the report's release, New York lawmakers stated that they would soon review the more-than-400-page document.

The reaction was quite different for Republican Rep. Tom Reed (NY-23), who concluded that the investigation is over and that it’s time to move on.

Rep. Chris Collins (R-27) echoed those sentiments as well.

Rep. Brian Higgins (NY-26) said Barr's actions since receiving the report "lacked the transparency and independence expected of our government's institutions."
