Have you ever wondered what the world would be like without water? No drinking water, no bathing and no specialty drinks like coffee.

It’s a question the Monroe County Water Authority is asking the whole community to think about. Folks there are hosting their seventh annual “Imagine A Day Without Water” event.

This year’s focus is teaching people where our water comes from and where or wastewater goes.

They touched on the importance of water infrastructure and how weather affects our systems.

"Imagine if you went to your tap and you got up, all the sudden the water didn't come out,” MCWA Director of Production and Transmission Chris LaManna said. “If it was not safe, how that would impact your life and again, I think that everybody just realizing how fortunate we are with living on this part of the country and have such a reliable source of water. You just read the news and it is not that way across the country, out west for example, where they are worried about quantity and the source and getting worse with the droughts. We just don’t have that issue here."

Officials say we’re fortunate to have a primary water source so close in Lake Ontario. All the Great Lakes combined contain about 20% of the world’s fresh water.
