Ontario County's Board of Supervisors says it is investigating Sheriff Kevin Henderson and some of his employees. The board is also seeking to take away oversight of the county's 911 Emergency Communications Division from the sheriff's office.

This news comes just hours after the sheriff said he's being pressured to resign, claiming that County Board of Supervisors Chairman Jack Marren asked him to quit under threat of retaliation.

What exactly started all of this has not been made clear by either side, but it appears to involve how the sheriff and his administrators handle business in the office.

The board said it took anonymous tips last year and started an independent investigation, claiming results showed so-called “poor leadership," "lack of integrity" and "low" employee morale.

The sheriff Tuesday morning said his undersheriff has voluntarily resigned following a meeting between Henderson and Marren.

The sheriff said Marren laid out a list of issues, telling Henderson to resign this week.

Henderson says he has no intention of resigning, stating that he would like to meet with the entire board of supervisors to talk about their concerns.

"The sheriff wants full transparency to the citizens he serves, and encourages and supports an independent investigation of the allegations verbally laid out by the County Board of Supervisors," Henderson said.

Marren is the supervisor for the town of Victor.
