Local train fanatics had a great time riding the rails in the Town of Rush. The New York State Railroad Museum celebrated its 50th anniversary of helping keep Rochester moving.

The museum held a "Trains and Trolleys at Twilight" event Saturday as part of their ongoing series to celebrate life on the rails. The all-volunteer organization has been diligently serving folks in the Town of Rush with their upkeep of the station, tracks and museum.

You can go in and visit the museum, as well as enjoy a scenic vintage car train ride.

"I think a lot of people just enjoy being around railroads and trains. They're just big, noisey, exciting machines. And I think our museum gives people an opportunity to get up close and really enjoy everything they have to offer," said Rochester and Genesee Valley Railroad Museum President Otto Vondrak.

Train rides resumed in early April and there are two big events planned for the coming months.

The first event, "Princess & Superhero Train Rides," takes place on June 19 and 20. The following event, the "Trains and Trolleys at Twilight series," takes place on July 10.
