ROCHESTER, N.Y. — What’s being billed as one of the biggest public works projects in the history of Rochester is ready for the governor’s signature.

The $475 million Rochester School Modernization Program Bill has passed both the state Senate and Assembly.

The money would be used to update or replace academic facilities across the Rochester City School district, including 11 schools.

“This is about educational equity,” Senator Jeremy Cooney said. “Children in the Rochester City School District should have the same opportunities as children in other parts of the country and other affluent school districts across New York.”

Lawmakers are now calling on Gov. Cuomo to sign the RCSD Modernization Program into law.
