Tuesday, June 1 is the first day you can apply online for the rental assistance program in New York.

The $2.7 billion-dollar program is being made available for those who are behind on their rent and have suffered financially from COVID-19.

Administered by the state Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance, the New York State Emergency Rental Assistance Program will provide help with up to a year of 'past-due rent' and three months of prospective rental assistance to eligible New Yorkers.

The program is also expected to serve up to 200,000 households.

For more information, applicants and landlords should visit the Emergency Rental Assistance Program page on the New York State website.
