A proposed law in Monroe County named after a Brockport woman killed while riding her bike is looking to make Rochester safer for cyclists.

Carrie Ray's Law would make it so drivers would have to give cyclists three feet of space when passing.

The law is named after Carrie Ray, a Brockport central school district teacher killed in Clarkson when she was hit by a truck.

Her husband says she would have been proud of the law.

"I think she'd be proud. I think she'd hope it'd have an effect for someone else in the community to help protect their future," Michael Ray said.

Ray died on Route 260, which has now had its lanes widened and changed pavement markers.
