ROCHESTER, N.Y. — As we head into the holiday weekend, infectious disease experts say we still have to be cautious about Easter gatherings.

Rochester Regional Health’s Associate Director of Infection Prevention Jennifer Gutowski says with cases on the rise locally, and most people being unvaccinated, now is not the time to let our guard down.

"If you are fortunate enough to live in a house full of health care workers who have been vaccinated and have at least two doses, there might be some ability to get together unmasked, but for the large part of us who will still have unvaccinated people within our household, it’s still not recommended for us to be unmasked within six feet of each other," she said.

Experts say there are steps you can take to make indoor gatherings safer, like opening windows for ventilation.
