GENEVA, N.Y. — Blueprint Geneva has relaunched its effort to feed the community over the weekend.

For the first time since last summer, volunteers with Blueprint Geneva are spending their weekends at First United Methodist Church in Geneva.

They are preparing dozens of meals to give out for free, no questions asked.

"I’m preparing a black bean tomato and kale southwestern style soup," says Samantha Buyskes.

She adds they originally started this effort shortly after the pandemic began in March and were able to feed hundreds of people before they ran out of funding at the end of the summer.

"We know that there are people from all walks of life that are struggling to make ends meet, and so the idea of being able to provide a hot meal to give them a little bit of security in knowing that their families can eat something that day," said Buyskes.

With the help of grants and fundraising, Blueprint Geneva could restart its Saturday Prepared Meals initiative.

Buyskes says she hopes to feed as many as possible so they are always looking for donations.

Anyone looking to contribute can click here or contact them on their Facebook page if you want give food ingredients.

"With the funding that we currently have, we are committed to feeding a 100 people," said Buyskes.

With all the food prepared, volunteer Mary Brudder is ready to hand them out.

"I think a lot of people are out of work and can’t really have access to healthy food. That’s hard so we try to make it healthy," said Brudder.

The free meals will be available at First United Methodist Church every Saturday at 1pm for the next nine weeks.
