ROCHESTER, N.Y. — A group hoping to save Rochester's historic St. Michael's Church on North Clinton Avenue is submitting a proposal to keep the church open.
Friends of St. Michael's unveiled their proposal on Friday.
It includes a commitment to cover the church's $113,000 deficit and establish a financial accountability board moving forward.

"So what we are asking for is five years to plan and do the studies and do the implementation so that initiatives that are started are sustained. We have seen initiatives come and go, but we need to talk sustainability now."
The final decision on whether the church will close is up to the bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Rochester.
