ROCHESTER, N.Y. — We knew it was coming, but on Tuesday morning we were reminded it is December.

The Rochester area is seeing its first areawide snowfall of the season. The snow doesn’t look like a lot, but don’t underestimate it. The roads are wet and icy.

Plows have been out throughout the morning to keep up with the snow.

Johnny Chandler was coming home from his nightshift at the Kodak plant when Spectrum News caught up with him pulling his truck into the driveway. He’s been in the area for almost 40 years and he has some advice for anyone new to driving in snow.

“Take your time. Definitely have good tires on your vehicle. But the main thing is take your time with this. Especially if you’re not used to it because I turned the corner back there, I kind of slid a little bit so you got to pay attention to what you’re doing,” said Chandler.

So no one is too much of a veteran to avoid sliding.

Whether you have a truck or a sedan, everyone should be taking their time on the road in snowy weather.
