It’s been three weeks since Monroe County launched a new online survey to help track the coronavirus in our region, and some residents have yet to sign up to take it.
What You Need To Know
- After three weeks, 19,000 participants have taken the online survey
- Survey focuses on tracking COVID-19 symptoms in region
- Social media campaign, billboards coming soon to encourage more participants
"I would totally do it. It's a great idea," says Ellie Steinmetz of Hilton.
To date, close to 19,000 people have taken the survey, and zip codes show most are from the east side of Monroe County. But public health officials say they need to reach more participants in more areas of the county.
"We don't have equal participation all across our region and we really need to work to get folks in our rural communities as well as in the city of Rochester to participate," says Albert Blankley, Common Ground Health CEO.
"What we've been doing with the data we've gotten so far is really been using it to help us better understand and better target our limited resources to do outreach. We’ve yet to see anything in the data that warranted a response to engage differently for an outbreak," Blankley adds.
In the weeks ahead, a social media campaign will be launched as well as several billboards that will encourage people to take the quick COVID-19 survey.
