Along with manufacturing and construction opening for phase one, Lakeside Entertainment in Union Springs opened their doors. The reopening comes with some adjustments.

What You Need To Know

  • It's the first casino in the region to open its doors.
  • Everyone going in gets a temperature check, and must wear a mask.
  • They also reduced the number of machines and people allowed inside.

“I needed something to do, entertainment purposes and spending some time away from my grandkids and things like that," said Joseph Crawford, from Auburn.

The Cayuga Nation owned casino in Central New York reopened on Friday and it came with some safety guidelines.

Everyone going in gets a temperature check, and must wear a mask. They also reduced the number of machines and people allowed inside.

“They should put the screens, the plastic screens in between each machine then you would be safe from each other right? Then you could get more people in," said Robert Wellington, from Montezuma.

“I’ve been waiting about an hour but they’re doing it the smart way, making sure people are spaced apart, people are going to relax spend their money here," said Crawford.

The safety guidelines have created a long wait to get inside.

“But we’ve been here probably two hours waiting in line but the only thing we’re not happy about is because they are letting the people that are in there come out and have cigarettes, go right back in. People are coming out in their cars getting money, going back in, they should set it up differently," said Wellington.

People waiting in line said the bathrooms also aren’t open. But, regardless of stricter guidelines inside, people are looking forward to more casinos and activities in the area to open up.

“Waiting for Del Lago and Turning Stone to open up some gaming activities some summer spring activities to get out water slides whatever you name it. I'm just pent up sitting at home kind of deal. I’m like every other American I just want to get out and do something," said Crawford.

The casino declined an interview, and to record video inside.
