The former CEO of the Ibero American Action League announced she's running for state Senate on Saturday.

Hilda Rosario-Escher is running for the 56th State Senate District seat, which covers Brighton, Clarkson, Gates, Greece, Hamlin, and Parma.

Escher said she wants to bring economic resurgence through public and private investment, support small businesses, and ensure parents have access to high quality childcare. She currently sits on the statewide board for Empire State Development.

Republican Senator Joe Robach has represented the district since 2003.
