City leaders announced the groundbreaking for a new skate park in downtown Rochester is set for early next month.
It's the latest development in the ongoing Roc the Riverway projects.
People got an update on those efforts Tuesday night at the Blue Cross Arena.
"Rochester's beginnings was based on the river and for years we kinda moved away from that,” said Norman Jones, Rochester’s commissioner of environmental services. “Now we're really positioning ourselves to take advantage of the river and use that as an driver to spur commerce, to spur economic development and to really enhance the liveliness of our downtown."
Jones said the current Phase 1 is expected to continue for another two to three years.
